Welcome to my blog, I am Ben and I am passionate about outdoor activities. I like hiking a lot with a little preference for multi-day mountain hikes and total autonomy.
At 26, I did my first big hike (5 days) in the Charrana (North-East Morocco). Despite knowing as much as I could, it was not the greatest achievement. Being of the predictive kind, I found myself with a backpack too heavy – about 55 pounds – filled with useless things.
It was, however, a great experience where I realized that I lacked a lot of experience. More knowledge and some practical advice beforehand would have saved me many mistakes.
Since this first experience, I gained knowledge through valuable many observations and experiments but also through many readings. I had the chance to make great hikes in after that.
Why Altitude Seven ?
This blog is born from the desire to share the experience that I accumulated during my hikes. This, to benefit novice hikers who want to get off to a good start and experienced hikers who want to improve their practice.
Hiking is an exciting activity accessible to all and practiced by many people, different profiles and ages and in many different ways. Yet many people do not enjoy it as much as they can. Many people can testify that going on a poorly prepared hike can be a nightmare. Who did not say it during a hike: it’s the last or never again?
Some are scared to get started and others are looking for some tips that will make their lives easier to hike. The main goal of this blog is to allow everyone to enjoy themselves to the maximum with the help of practical advice. Altitude Seven aims to to help readers avoid the mistakes that I have made or that I have seen others do and allow you to fully enjoy your hikes whether they are day hikes or treks of several days or weeks.
What is Altitude Seven ?
