– Large storage area capacity.

– No kicktail to quickly turn.

– I didn’t expect to see a heavy aluminum paddle considering its price.

– The part on the deck pad without grooves feels less grippy.

– Removing bungees is. a little harder.

– Logo print fades off on the included paddle and hand pump.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

GREAT IN/FOR:

  • Flat water.
  • Recreational paddling.
  • Calm ocean.
  • Surfing very small waves.

GILI Air 10’6 REVIEW

  • GLIDE & SPEED

This board glides gracefully and faster than expected with its narrow width.

It’s slightly faster than Bluefin Cruise 10’8 and slower than the Nautical 11’6.

  • STABILITY

Gili Air 10’6 offers enough stability for paddlers under 200 lbs.

Compared to Gili Meno 10’6 / 11’6, it is less stable.

  • TRACKING

Paddling in high or low speed, Gili Air 10’6 is well at keeping a straight line.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

GILI Air 10’6 is able to maneuver obstacles or others around you fairly well.

  • EASE OF TRANSPORT

Its weight of just 19 lbs makes it comfortable carrying it the back with the well-padded bag back and straps.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Inflating the GILI Air 10’6 takes about 10 minutes and it isn’t terrible for large individuals with average shape.

  • ACCESSORIES

GILI Air 10’6 comes with everything (listed above) you will need to start having fun on the water.

The hand pump is dual-action, meaning it is able to release air on the downstroke and the upstroke, with a pressure gauge to know the current air pressure and not over-inflate your board.

The included paddle has a very solid aluminum shaft that makes it a good beginner paddle. Its ability to float can give you some time to recover if it falls into the water.

The bag you receive with this board is spacious and well-padded back pad and straps, making it better for the package price range.

GILI Mako 10′

Best for Smaller Paddlers

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Easy to carry for small paddlers.

– Stable enough for even small paddlers whatever their experience level.

– Well constructed.

– Lots of d-rings to secure your belongings.

– Backpack is well made.
– I expect to see a powerful dual-chamber instead of a sing-chamber one.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • Preteens, teenagers or small adults looking for a well-built inflatable paddle board.
  • Paddler looking for a lightweight paddle board for easier carrying.
  • Beginners under 5’8” and 150 seeking a stable enough iSUP.

GREAT IN/FOR:

  • Flat water.
  • Recreational paddling.
  • Calm ocean.
  • Surfing very small waves.

QUICK SPECS

  • Price range: Medium to high
  • Use: All-around

GILI Mako 10′ REVIEW

  • STABILITY

With how long and wide this board is, it is very stable for smaller paddlers.

  • EASE OF TRANSPORT

Carrying the GILI Mako 10′ on your shoulders should be fairly easy considering how lightweight it is.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

With the single-chamber hand pump that this board comes with, smaller individuals would have difficulties topping off this board to its recommended PSI

  • ACCESSORIES

This board comes with everything needed (listed above) to start having fun on the water.

Moreover, the accessories are pretty much the same as what you get with their Adventure series.

The bag you get with this board has a fin pocket to help you never lose them.

GILI Adventure 11′

Best for Advanced Paddlers

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Quite manageable due to its lighter weight.

– Affordable.

– Offers great maneuverability.

– Made of premium materials.

– Can play at being a touring board.

– Its accessories and features makes it an excellent value for money.

– Stable on the water.

– Cargo-friendly.

– Great for traveling due to its compactness.

– Its stability, speed, and maneuverability make it a board that beginners still love to use after they become advanced.

– Will last a long time if properly maintained.
– An all grooves deck pad would be more grippy.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • Individuals who want to carry a pet or lots of gear.
  • Beginners attracted by touring on a SUP.
  • Paddlers who want to bring couple of kids with them.
  • Beginners seeking a SUP board that they keep love to use even after they become advanced.
  • Beginner to advanced paddles looking to explore the water.

GREAT IN/FOR:

  • Flat water.
  • Ocean.
  • Fun paddling with friend.
  • Cover distances.

QUICK SPECS

  • Use: Adventure
  • Dimensions: 11′ x 32″ x 6″
  • Weight: 22 lbs
  • Weight capacity: 290 lbs
  • Comes with: Fiberglass-shaft paddle, Backpack, 2-Stage pump, Leash, 3 fins, Repair kit, Valve wrench

GILI Adventure 11′ REVIEW

  • GLIDE & SPEED

GILI Adventure 11′ is pretty fast.

Compared to other Gili paddleboards, it is not as fast as the Meno 11’’6 or 12’6.

  • STABILITY

Despite being lightweight, this board is extremely stable on the water due to its dimensions and excellent construction.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

GILI Adventure 11′ is surprisingly easy to turn due to many factors, including its weight of just 22 lbs.

  • PORTABILITY

The same thing with portability, being a lightweight SUP, this board is very easy to carry in its large enough backpack to and from your car.

You also have the center grab handle which makes carrying it to and from the water easy.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Inflating a board with even the best hand pump remains a good workout, so with this included pump that has just a single chamber, inflating it will be difficult especially the last PSI for smaller individuals.

  • ACCESSORIES

GILI Adventure 11′ comes with everything needed (listed above) to start exploring the water or recreational paddling with friends.

GILI Adventure 12′

Best for Expeditions

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Feels stable and secure even on choppy water.

– Feel secure and comfortable while standing or kneeling.

– Very rigid yet light.

– Easy and fun to paddle even if loaded right up.

– lot’s of space for securing gear.

– Back bungees are removable for more free space.

– Paddle holder to secure your paddle when you need to be hands-free.

– Should last a long time with a little care.

– Any purchase from Gili means a donation to help keep sea life safe and healthy.
– No action mount on the back.

– Smooth lined deck pad doesn’t have much grip.

– The included pump is simpler for the current standard of the same price range.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • Beginner to intermediate paddlers who want an easy to paddle stable board.
  • All day adventures on the water.
  • Anglers who want a SUP for great fishing adventures.

GREAT IN/FOR:

  • Flat calm water.
  • Paddling through wind.
  • Surfing small waves.

QUICK SPECS

  • Price range: Medium to high
  • Use: Adventure
  • Dimensions: 12′ x 32″ x 6″
  • Weight: 23 lbs
  • Weight capacity: 330 lbs
  • Comes with: Fiberglass-shaft paddle, Backpack, 2-Stage pump, Leash, 3 fins, Repair kit, Valve wrench

GILI Adventure 12′ REVIEW

  • GLIDE & SPEED

GILI Adventure 12′ glides smoothly with its slight taper at the nose and tail.

  • STABILITY

With its width of 32″, this board feels stable even when paddling on choppy water.

  • TRACKING

Due to many factors, including the touring fin, GILI Adventure 12′ does well at keeping a straight line while paddling.

You will be able to paddle 12 times before having to switch sides.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

In terms of maneuverability, this board is easy to turn and change direction using simple paddling techniques.

Compared to its little sibling GILI Adventure 11’, it is a little less maneuverable.

  • PORTABILITY

Carrying this board inside its backpack on your shoulders is comfortable due to the back, shoulder straps, and waist strap really nice padding.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

With fairly steady pumping and a few breaks, inflating the Gili Adventure 12′ to 15 PSI takes about 7 minutes.

  • ACCESSORIES

If you get yourself this board, you will not need any additional things to buy to start paddleboarding because it comes with everything needed (listed above).

The fiberglass paddle weighs 34 oz, being the heaviest compared to the carbon hybrid or the full carbon paddle.

Whatever paddle you chose, it will be adjustable for easy storing and use by different-height paddlers with the ability to float if it falls to the water.

The bag you get with this board is well padded and has breathable padded mesh that feels great when carrying everything on your back.

Getting the board in and out of it is also very easy with its three sides wide openings.

The hand pump is what I don’t like about this package, it has only one single chamber instead of two that many competitors give with boards in the same price range.

You also get an ankle leash for your own safety and also not lose your board if you fall in the water.

GILI Komodo 10’6

Best for Cruising/Relaxation

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Very lightweight making it easy to carry by smaller paddlers.

– Fairly high weight capacity

– Turns quick.

– Glides well.

– Plenty of features and accessories make it a great value.

– Plenty of storage.
– Removing the bungee cord is not easier with the d-rings small size.

– Action mounts would be better integrated into the d-rings.

– Difficult to manage in wind.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • Paddlers looking for stable board for fitness.
  • Beginners looking for best-rated lightweight SUP to cruise across the water.
  • Individuals paddling with pets, kids or a reasonable amount of gear.

GILI Meno 10’6

GILI Meno 10’6 REVIEW

  • GLIDE

GILI Meno 10’6 has a steady glide on still and light chop due to its slightly raised rocker.

  • STABILITY

The high-quality construction, the large weight capacity, and its width of 35″ make it stable for paddlers large or small.

  • TRACKING

GILI Meno 10’6 has good tracking in the water, making it able to keep a straight line while paddling.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

Due to many factors, including Its weight of just 23 lbs and the shorter fin options, it all helps it be able to have good maneuverability.

  • PORTABILITY

Carrying over short distances, the included bag comes with a new side handle that makes it easy.

If you get tired from paddling and you don’t want to carry it on your shoulder, you still have bag wheels that make transport much easier.

Its three grab handles let carrying this already lightweight board to and from the water even easier.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Inflating GILI Meno 10’6 to its recommended air pressure using the included hand pump can be done less than 10 minutes after you have experience.

Inflating an inflatable paddle board remains quite a workout whatever the hand pump you are using. This why getting the best electric paddle board pump is the first upgrade you should have.

  • ACCESSORIES

This board comes with everything needed to start having fun on the water.

The included paddle is a carbon fiber one, which is lightweight enough, with a comfortable and ergonomic grip to help you paddle longer before start feeling tired.

Its adjustability makes it easy to store and can be used by many different-height paddlers

The hand pump you get with this board is dual-chamber triple action, making it amongst the best in the market.

It also has the deflation option.

The bag you receive with this board is thicker and has a more sturdy feel.

The package has a repair kit and leash that is useful to not lose your board and stay safe if you fall from your board.

GILI Meno 11’6

Best for Larger Paddlers

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Lightweight compared to similar boards.

– Stays stable in waves and chop.

– Large weight capacity for gear, pet, or a kid.

– Fast and fairly maneuverable.

– Keeps a straight line on the water.

– Can be carried by even smaller individuals.

– Comes with more fins than the competitors give.

– A donation is given toward saving the ocean with every purchase.
– Removing the bungee cords is not easy with the small d-rings.

– Diamond groves are not spread throughout all the deck-pad.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • First-time or big paddlers looking for a stable board.
  • Individuals looking for a lightweight large board.
  • Paddling with a kid, pet, or lots of gear.
  • Anglers looking for affordable fishing paddle board.

  • Weight capacity: 485 lbs
  • Comes with: Carbon Fiber paddle, Wheeled backpack, 2-chamber 3-stage pump, Leash, 5 fins, Repair kit

GILI Meno 11’6 REVIEW

  • GLIDE & SPEED

Gili Meno 11’6 is fairly easy to paddle fast.

It is slightly slower than BLACKFIN Model XL in top speed and a little slower than the BOTE HD.

  • STABILITY

Despite being a lightweight paddleboard, this board feels comfortable, even under a heavy load.

  • TRACKING

Gili Meno 11’6 tracks very well even in choppy water with its 9” fin.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

Gili Meno 11’6 responds well to direction changes.

  • PORTABILITY

Even smaller family members can still carry the GILI Meno 11’6 by themselves.

The backpack you get is durable and strong, with enough room, a dedicated fin pouch, and well-padded handles, straps, and backside.

The floatable paddle feels great to use and its adjustability makes it easy to store and can be used by different-height paddlers.

The fins you get are more than what most competitors include, making the board performance more adjustable.

GILI Meno 12’6

Best for Fast touring

– Very stable and rigid on the water.

– Good weight capacity.

– Surprising stability

– Portable.

– Reasonably lightweight.

– Sturdy.

– Fast and efficient at paddling.

– Convenient paddle holder.

– Strong and durable kit paddle is excellent for traveling.
– Deck pad feels less grippy.

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • Paddlers looking to go on longer paddle board excursions.

  • Calm ocean.

QUICK SPECS

  • Weight: 24 lbs
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs

GILI Meno 12’6 REVIEW

  • GLIDE & SPEED

GILI Meno 12’6 glides through the water smoothly with decent speed.

It’s not the fastest touring board, but it is expected with its width of 31″.

  • STABILITY

Despite having a width of just 31”, GILI Meno 12’6 is stable on the water due to its well-built construction.

  • TRACKING

GILI Meno 12’6 is one of the best at tracking straight. but you should know that the SUP tracking abilities have more to do with the paddler than the board itself.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

Controlling the direction of this board is easy using its flexible main fin.

Weighing only 24 lbs makes it lightweight in the water and the diamond groove at the back does help perform advanced turning.

  • PORTABILITY

Traveling with GILI Meno 12’6 is easier with the new wheel on the bottom of its bag.

Carrying it inflated to and from the water is also easy and comfortable using the three grab handles on the board or the good neoprene padded center one.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Using the hand pump it comes with, this board takes about 7 minutes to inflate to its recommended air pressure.

  • ACCESSORIES

This board comes with everything (listed above) needed to start paddling right out of the box.

The kit paddle is strong, durable, and great for long-distance paddling.

The bag is large enough to store the board and all of the accessories but not too big to carry on your shoulders.

The hand pump you get with this board is a heavy-duty pump that works great and is able to inflate up to 26 PSI but it is a little heavy.

You also get a safety leash and repair kit that includes a couple of PVC repair patches and a valve wrench.

GILI Manta Ray 12′/15′

– A different fun on the water.

– Can be expensive for some.

– The kit bag comes with no pockets to store and organize things.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR BEST GILI PADDLE BOARD

BOARD LENGTH

  • Under 10′: Best for SUP surfing and as a kid paddle board.
  • 10′ to 12′: Best for all-around use.
  • Above 14′: Best for long distance paddling and touring.

BOARD WIDTH

For all-around paddling, I recommend you have an inflatable paddle board at least 31” wide, but you should not get the widest possible one because it will negatively affect your strokes.

PADDLE

Lightweight paddles made out of carbon fiber let you paddle longer before start feeling tired, but they are less sturdy than the heavy aluminum ones.

FAQ

The Best Gili Paddle Board for me is …

It’s GILI Air 10’6.

It is very easy to paddle, offers more than enough weight capacity and enough stability for me weighing 210 lbs, easy to carry on shoulders, all that while being fairly priced.

Best Gili Paddle Board for Big Paddlers

For larger paddlers, I recommend the GILI Meno 11’6.

It is fairly easy to paddle fast, feels comfortable, stable even under heavy load, and tracks very well even in choppy water.
