– Do not come with a leash.

– The kit bag would be better if it is made a little bigger and few pockets to organize your belongs

Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′ Review

  • GLIDE & SPEED

When you talk about paddle boards this big, you do not expect them to be fast. which is true with Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′.

  • STABILITY

Both Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′ multi person are very stable, even with many others on board. The

The bigger sibling (15′) is impossible to flip over on purpose, and the little (big) can be flipped over if you try to but remains a challenge.

  • TRACKING

These boards prove clearly what I have said before, keeping a straight line on the SUP board has more to do with the paddler than the board itself.

If you are alone on the Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′, it will be hard to keep a straight line, but with the help of another paddler, your tracking becomes really well.

If I have to differentiate between both boards sizes, I will say that the smaller one has slightly better tracking.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

Both boards are not easy to turn like a beginner paddle board with a planing hull, but they remain maneuverable, especially if you paddle from the rear of the board.

  • PORTABILITY

Instead of a backpack, both boards come with a bag that is similar to duffel bags. Fortunately, it does have wheels to carry it using one hand like a suitcase.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Inflating these iSUP bords alone using the kit hand pump is very hard.

Fortunately, these boards have two inflatable valves and Gili Sport includes two hand pumps.

Inflating Gili Manta Ray multi-person using the two kit hand pumps simultaneously cuts time in half and makes it doable, but it remains a workout or a warm-up if you want.

  • ACCESSORIES

Both Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′ come with everything needed (except a leash) to get fun on the water.

Starting with the kit’s two paddles, they are very durable fiberglass ones but are on the heavy side.

For the two hand pumps, as said before, you get two dual-chamber triple-action hand pumps.

The duffel bag you get has wheels and I wish it was just a little bigger to not have to refold or suck out all the air from the board to fits in.

You also get 5 fins ( 1 large center fin and 4 side ones), and a repair kit.

Bluefin 15’ Cruise Tandem

BEST BUDGET

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Priced affordably

– Sturdy

– Premium performance

– Excellent tracking and stability

– Pretty easy to turn, especially with the help of another paddler

– Manages to handle light chop and wind well

– The comfortable deck pad dries and drains very quickly when it gets wet

– Includes two kayak seats
– Since you get a single chamber hand pump, you have to invest in an electric pump

– The heavy-duty backpack you get has no built-in wheels

– Due to its heavyweight, it takes a bit of work to build up your speed

– Cannot be inflated from two valves simultaneously

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • People looking for a great tandem SUP to bring along kids or a pet as well
  • Experienced paddlers looking for a SUP board for long touring adventures
  • Ones who often go to paddle with a partner
  • Partners who want to try SUP kayaking together

GREAT IN/FOR:

  • Flatwater

Bluefin 15’ Cruise Tandem Review

  • GLIDE & SPEED

Once you get up to speed, the Bluefin 15’ Cruise Tandem is able to maintain its momentum well.

  • STABILITY

This multi-person paddle board is capable of supporting two adult paddlers while remaining extremely steady and stable.

  • TRACKING

Even if you are a beginner and still learning how to paddle, you will manage to maintain a straight line on the water and this is due to the three fins and the board’s long length.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

As with any paddleboard this long, you will not turn with it like a lightweight paddle board, but it is still pretty easy to turn, especially when you have another paddler helping you.

  • PORTABILITY

With the help of the seven carry handles on the Bluefin 15’ Cruise Tandem, you will have no problem carrying it to the water if you have others who can help.

Since the kit backpack is small, it is hard, if not possible to carry everything inside. Even the board alone can be a bit cramped putting it inside.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Since the hand pump you get is just a single-chamber one, inflating this board using it will be very hard.

Getting the help of another person makes it doable in at least 15 minutes but still, an electric pump makes a very important upgrade to consider.

  • ACCESSORIES

The Bluefin 15’ Cruise Tandem packages include many things that you will need to enjoy paddling with another person on board.

Starting with the paddles, you get two fiberglass ones that are superior to aluminum paddles but a bit heavier when you compare them to carbon fiber paddles.

What I like about these paddles is that they are durable, provide powerful strokes in the water, and can easily be converted into kayak paddles without any additional purchase.

For the hand pump. Unfortunately, you do not get two ones like with the Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′ package, and more than that it is just a single-chamber one, which makes it slow and less efficient.

I see that Bluefin did it intentionally because it knows that a big paddle board is hard to inflate using hand pumps, so they prefer including a simple hand pump to play at an affordable price.

The backpack you get is a heavy-duty one with two handles for short-distance carrying. Unfortunately, you do not get built-in wheels that make transport easy on flat hard surfaces, but you still get adjustable straps to carry it on your back.

Another thing that I didn’t like about this backpack is that it is small and does not fit everything inside.

You also get two kayak conversion kit seats that are easy to install to the d-rings.

Unlike Gili Manta Ray 12’/15′, the package includes a coiled leash that prevents losing your board if you fall from it.

The last thing you get in this package is the repair kit which is handy if you want to repair some minor damages.

Isle Megalodon 12’/15′

BEST LIGHTWEIGHT

WHAT I LIKEWHAT I DON’T LIKE
– Easy to turn with one person from the back

– Large storing space

– Lightweight for their sizes

– Durable

– Easy to deflate, roll up, and carry

– Kit paddles perform really well

– Can be inflated from two valves simultaneously

– Traction pad is durable and covers from the back tail of the board almost to the nose

– Includes really nice paddles
– The hand pump you get could be better if it has dual chambers

– Does not come with a leash, backpack, or repair kit

IDEAL CHOICE FOR:

  • Families and large groups of friends

GREAT IN/FOR:

  • Ocean
  • Lake

Isle Megalodon 12’/15′ Review

  • STABILITY

Due to how wide they are, both boards are super stable on the water.

  • TRACKING

The tracking abilities of the Isle Megalodon 12’/15′ are pleasantly surprising. They both keep a straight line very well.

  • MANEUVERABILITY

Even if you are alone on one of these boards, you will be able to easily turn if you are on the back.

  • PORTABILITY

The Isle Megalodon 12’ and 15′ have 9 grab handles that make carrying it to and out of the water.

Due to how lightweight these boards are, even a 12-year-old child can carry the 15′ board by himself.

  • EASE OF INFLATION

Fully inflating these boards using the single-chamber hand pump will not be easy or quick.

Instead, I recommend you highly invest in an electric paddle board pump that will save you time and energy.

If you don’t want to do so for whatever reason, the two separate valves let you get help from others by inflating the board using two hand pumps simultaneously.

  • ACCESSORIES

The Isle Megalodon paddle board does not come with everything you will need because you do not get a backpack, leash, or repair kit. So, consider making additional purchases.

Starting with the paddles, you get hybrid ones that use carbon fiber in the shafts and nylon in the blades. Both perform really well on the water and anti-twist and rattle locks.

For the pump, as said before, you receive a single chamber hand pump, which makes it slow and less efficient.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST MULTI PERSON PADDLE BOARD

STABILITY

Do not worry about the stability of big paddle boards like multi-person ones because their large width already played this role.

HULL TYPE

The shape of the SUP hull plays a role in how it performs in the water.

The more the hull is pointed, the more the board becomes faster, because this shape helps it cut through the water easily.

SUP boards with a flat and wide hull make them more maneuverable and stable.

VOLUME

The board volume is expressed in liters. The more volume a board has the more weight it can support.

WEIGHT CAPACITY

When you consider your total weight to compare to the board’s weight capacity, do not forget to include the weight of everything you may have with you like your dog’s weight or one of your accessories or gear.

If your total weight is near or exceeds the capacity of a paddle board, I recommend you get a bigger one to not lack performance.
