WHY DO YOU #CHOOSEADVENTURE?

Because there is more to see then just normal route I take everyday. I move around a lot and currently I just moved from Atlanta, Ga to outside of Las Vegas, NV. People ask me how I got here and I say a job. Being open to change and advancing is what makes me take on new opportunities. Without change there is no adventure. I really try to experience the area and it's surroundings to the fullest because you know what I might not be here long and the planet has so much to offer.

ADVENTURE MAKES YOU FEEL...

Alive and like a wildflower. Without adventure I would never push myself to do better, I would never move and I would be stuck in a fantasy world that doesn't leave the confines of a wifi signal.

HOW HAS ADVENTURE CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

Growing up second of four kids I was the one who was into Girl Scouts, volunteering, and happy to be sent into a program called People to People Student Ambassadors. I traveled to England, Ireland and Wales my eighth grade summer before becoming a freshman in high school. I was so scared and my film camera broke during the trip so I barely have any pictures but it was so amazing to see the world. Now in my life I found my path in conservation which I rediscovered volunteering in my adult life through trail work and working on national scenic trails. Again like a young adult I was scared, I started in North Florida and lived in the woods and everything from the snakes to the extreme spring weather had me freaked out. Through embracing change and finding community in the people I worked with I couldn't stop volunteering to be outside under all the weather experiencing what the atmosphere had to offer. So now when I move somewhere totally new (I'm from Wichita, Kansas so midwestern girl all day) I have to really look at the landscape because from the south to the midwest to the west... It's all DIFFERENT!

FAVORITE TYPE OF ADVENTURE?

I love visiting public lands and camping. I collect national park stamps but I don't just stop at national parks there are so many different public land agencies and they all have something different to offer. From viewing the Super Bloom phenomenon, to hiking around a crater, to visiting a Fort in the middle of nowhere Kansas, to viewing the beautiful blue waters of the ocean-it so cool to take in our public lands.

FAVORITE ADVENTURE TO DATE?

This is so HARD! I've had some awesome experiences as an AmeriCorps member working in Florida and experiencing all the Florida Trail has to offer, but also experiencing the Appalachian Trail in it's most stunning states. But I'll switch gears to my favorite activity yoga. I went on a yoga retreat in October 2015 to Ghana. I traveled solo until meeting my group to travel seven hours from the capitol of Accra to Cape three points which is in western Ghana and stayed oceanside at an eco lodge on the southern most tip of Ghana. I slept on the beach, did yoga, ventured to a lighthouse, worked on a volunteer project at the neighboring school, went whale watching in a viking ship, which turned really weird and lots of engagement with local people all around the region. I was in Ghana for 14 days and wouldn't have traded that experience for anything.

WHAT IS YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE PLANNED?

Since I'm living outside of Las Vegas, Nevada currently and there are so many amazing places around here my list is narrowed down to three top places. Grand Staircase Escalante (Utah), Antelope Canyon (Arizona) and Yosemite National Park (California).

YOUR ULTIMATE ADVENTURE BUCKET LIST IS?

I could say a really cool place but my ultimate adventure is to join the Peace Corps and serve a 2 year term somewhere that needs me the most. That could be anywhere in the world.

THE PERSON/PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE ME MOST TO TAKE AN ADVENTURE...

My mom who is an experience junkie is always really happy to see my pictures and hear about my trips. She travels a lot and is so excited to travel solo or with her girlfriends. My dad takes a little more wiggling to travel out the country so my mom takes adventure by the horn and goes.

ADVENTURE ITEM YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT?

So hard but I'm going to say hands down my Chacos. These sandals are so durable and adapt to whatever surface you are walking on. From slippery rocks to uneven turf these shoes are glued to my feet.
