Why do you #ChooseAdventure?

I love to test my limits and explore new places.

Adventure makes you feel...

Empowered and free!

Favorite type of adventure?

Whether I’m climbing to the top of a mountain peak or exploring a new trail, I like anything that takes me outdoors with friends

Favorite adventure to date?

Last summer I participated in an overnight event in San Diego called the Three Peak Challenge through Gut Check Fitness. Together with 30 other women, we climbed Iron Mountain, Mt. Woodson (twice) and Black Mountain. We carried 2- 30 lbs sandbags and 5 gallon paint buckets part way up each one, did more sit-ups, burpees, and push-ups than I could count, swam across a lake, and ran most of the way up and down each peak. I saw the sunset from the top of Iron Mountain, saw the moon reflecting off the ocean from the top of Mt. Woodson, and saw the sunrise from the top of Black Mountain. While this was no where near the most challenging event I have completed, it was definitely a challenge and was so much fun. My favorite part was being part of a group of women who worked together to support and empower each other. Together, we faced our fears, overcame mental and physical exhaustion, and formed a bond that we will share forever.

What is your next adventure planned?

Currently, I am trying to complete a challenge I set for myself to climb 52 peaks in 2016. I will also likely find another overnight event to participate in this summer

Your ultimate adventure bucket list is?

I want to complete an Ironman, run in the Boston Marathon, climb all 100 peaks in San Diego County, and I’d like to explore other peaks around the world. For me, I just want to make the most out of my life and set an example of health, fitness and adventure for my kids. I believe this is even more true now that I am a single Mom. I want to teach them that no challenge is too big to accomplish if you are willing to work for it.

The person/people who inspire me most to take an adventure...

Not only am I inspired by Jake and Maddie but I’m inspired by God and my Christian faith. When I’m in nature I feel the closest to God. When I’m on a long run or a challenging hike/climb, it’s my therapy; I’m able to work through whatever frustration I am dealing with. Every time my foot hits the ground it’s like I’m leaving a peace of a problem behind me; with each step I feel stronger and more empowered . When I am standing at the top of a mountain overlooking the view below, I am blown away by the beauty of creation and I am able to see a glimpse of the bigger picture of our life here on Earth.

Adventure item you can't live without?
