Why do you #ChooseAdventure?
Once adventure came into my life, there was no going back. I only wish I would have discovered it sooner! It has shown me a new way of life and now the inspiration to share the gift of adventures with others at Altitude Seven.
Adventure makes you feel...
Free, without limits, and inspired. Adventure redefines what I might think is possible and allows me to do more and aim higher. When it is just you and the mountain it can be the most liberating feeling. There is also this amazing feeling that you are where you were always meant to be.
Favorite type of adventure?
I love the mountains so mountaineering and skiing are my favorite, but I love traveling in general and getting out of my comfort zone. There is uncertainty of outcome in many of the most epic adventures-there is beauty in the unknown and that self discovery process.
Favorite adventure to date?
This one is so tough….studying abroad in Italy in college sparked a love for travel and seeing the world. My expedition on Denali was one that tested all my limits and being able to come out of it successful gave me the courage to go after Everest…it was my litmus test and I loved how wild and remote it was.
What is your next adventure planned?
The big goal this year is to complete my Adventure Grand Slam project as part of Climb Take Action…so I have Mt. Vinson left to complete the 7 summits and then Carstensz Pyramid, and a ski of the last degree of the North and South Pole to finish the Grand Slam.
Your ultimate adventure bucket list is?
The bucket list only seems to keep growing, but as mentioned to complete the Adventure Grand Slam, go back to Nepal and climb some more 8000 m peaks as well as some unclimbed ones, venture more into arctic regions (I am fascinated by the arctic), and attempt more in ski mountaineering as well as heli-skiing. I would also love to be able to do volunteer work in remote areas where gender-based violence support and awareness is needed.
The person/people who inspire me most to take an adventure...
Women were my inspiration to start climbing and raise awareness to gender based violence. Through that experience and that of being an entrepreneur, it inspires me keep pushing boundaries and limits not only for myself but for other women too. I am grateful for all the inspirational adventurers I have been able to meet thus far in my journey-so many of them are a source to redefine what is possible.
Adventure item you can't live without?
It depends on the adventure I am on, but on expeditions my OR Alti Mitts, as I still have 10 fingers because of them
